Commentary
  • Right then, that's all we have from this game. The match has been abandoned due to rain, and Bangladesh have clinched the series 2-0. They now proudly lift the trophy and gather for a celebratory photo. The Netherlands side will take a break from cricket, while Bangladesh advances to the Asia Cup, where they open against Hong Kong on 11 September at 2.30 pm GMT. Do join us for the early build-up as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
  • Litton Das proudly accepts the trophy after the post-match interview, passing it on to his teammates. They gather in front of the 'winners' board, beaming with joy as they snap pictures with the trophy in hand. The elation on the faces of the Bangladesh players and coaching staff is unmistakable, embodying the triumph of their relentless effort and unwavering spirit. This is not just a celebration; it’s a powerful testament to their hard work and commitment that led them to this incredible victory!
  • The skipper of Litton Das wins the Player of the Series for his outstanding performance with his bat. He says that the batters in the last two games didn't really get the time to showcase their batting prowess in the middle, but today, he is happy to see that they are ready for the upcoming challenges. He gives the credit to the opposition team for putting all the efforts coming in their country in short notice. Ends up saying that he has faith that the Netherlands will do good in their future.
  • The skipper of Netherlands, Scott Edwards says that they would love to have some batting but the rains spoiled the plans. Also give credit to the opposition batters, the way they batted, but he is also grateful that his bowlers fought back and tried to gain control of the match. Ends up saying that after going back to the their country the players will have some rest and then go to different parts of the world to continue their careers.
  • The Presentation ceremony...
  • After the rain interruption, the Netherlands bowlers did a great job in keeping the Bangladesh batters under wraps. Kyle Klein stepped up in the 14th over, picking up the crucial wickets of Litton Das and Shamim Hossain. Das's departure for a magnificent 73 runs was the highlight of the game. Tim Pringle was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands as he was economical and picked up a wicket. Nurul Hasan and Jaker Ali unleashed their batting brilliance, putting on a stunning display that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, just as they were gaining momentum, the rain gods intervened, forcing the match officials to call for an innings break, and that was it.
  • So, to summarise, Bangladesh's innings came to a close at 164 runs, and what a start they had! Litton Das was in imperious form, smashing boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking. They were off to a flying start, but Litton Das was dropped twice by Shariz Ahmad before the rain break, and he made the most of his chances. They were 60/1 at 4.1 overs when the rain came in.
  • UPDATE - 3.49 pm GMT - THE MATCH HAS BEEN ABANDONED DUE TO RAIN! The rain gods showed no mercy, and after multiple stoppages of the live contest, the match officials have decided to call off the match.
  • UPDATE - 3.38 pm GMT - Bad news folks! The showers of rain have started, and more covers are coming in from the side of the field of play! The cut-off time for the Dutch side’s 5-over run chase is set at 3:48 pm GMT. Stay tuned for more updates!
  • While we wait for the rain to cease, here's what happened at the Harare Sports Club. Sri Lanka edged out Zimbabwe in a thrilling T20I opener, chasing down 176 runs with 4 wickets to spare. The hosts posted 175, thanks to Brian Bennett's impressive 81. Dushmantha Chameera starred with the ball for Sri Lanka, claiming 3 wickets. In response, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis blasted off to a 96-run opening partnership before Tinotenda Maposa broke the stand. Despite losing key wickets, Kamindu Mendis stepped up, smashing 41. He and debutant, Dushan Hemantha shared an unbeaten 35-run stand towards the end to guide Sri Lanka to victory.
  • UPDATE - 2.51 pm GMT - It looks like the rain has stopped now, and we can see some of the groundsmen waiting for some instructions to remove the covers from the pitch. Stay tuned for more updates...
