Jaipur, May 5, 2025 — Rajasthan experienced widespread rain and hailstorms late Sunday night into Monday morning, causing significant disruptions across several districts. With strong winds lashing parts of the state, incidents of infrastructure damage, transport disruption, and property loss have been reported. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that this unseasonal weather pattern may continue until May 9 or later, bringing much-needed relief from heatwaves across the region.
High-Impact Incidents Across Districts-
In Pali district’s Raipur, train containers toppled due to gusty winds, crashing into high-tension electric poles, causing temporary power disruptions.

In Bundi, a transformer collapsed onto a JCB machine amid stormy conditions.

In Sadri town, nestled in the Aravalli hills, a natural waterfall gushed out from a temple, drawing local attention.

Bhilwara and Pali experienced hailstorms, and a house wall collapse injured an elderly person in the wake of intense rainfall and wind.

In Jalore, stormy winds toppled a tent setup for a public event.

Jodhpur and Barmer witnessed dust storms and light showers, while cool breezes swept through Jaipur early Monday morning.
In Tonk, showers began around 6:30 PM on Sunday, affecting several wedding ceremonies and events. The sudden downpour disrupted arrangements in Duni, Deoli, and Tonk city.

The back-to-back weather systems since May 1 have brought significant respite from Rajasthan’s typical early summer heat. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rain in parts of Udaipur division between May 5 and 7, with isolated pockets expected to receive intense rainfall and hail.
So far, no heatwave warnings have been issued for the upcoming week, indicating extended relief from high temperatures across Rajasthan.

Meteorologists expect the unseasonal weather pattern to persist, which may affect agriculture, transport, and scheduled outdoor events. Residents are advised to stay alert for thunderstorm and lightning warnings, especially in hilly and semi-arid regions.
As the state experiences one of its most weather-active starts to May in recent years, the IMD continues to monitor evolving systems influencing the western and southern parts of Rajasthan.
