Google has officially announced that its Quick Share application on Samsung Windows PCs will be replaced by Samsung’s native Quick Share app starting May 28, 2025. This move is part of a broader effort to streamline the file-sharing experience across Android smartphones and Windows laptops, ensuring a more unified and seamless user experience.
Transition Process and Compatibility UpdatesThe shift comes alongside the release of version 1.0.2180.0 of the Quick Share app for Windows. According to Google’s release notes, users on Samsung PCs will be automatically redirected to install Samsung’s Quick Share application once the transition takes effect. Notably, Google’s version has been rebranded from “Quick Share from Google” to simply “Quick Share” in preparation for this change.
Samsung had initially planned for this integration in the third quarter of 2024, but the timeline has been expedited as collaboration efforts between the two tech giants intensified earlier this year. This move reinforces Samsung’s growing ecosystem strategy across devices and platforms.
Improvements and Stability EnhancementsIn addition to the rebranding and transition plans, the latest Quick Share update also addresses critical performance issues. The update resolves an app crash problem and enhances GATT (Generic Attribute Profile) advertising reliability, providing a more stable and reliable sharing experience for users until the handover is complete.
Users are encouraged to update to the latest version of the Quick Share app to benefit from these improvements and to prepare for the upcoming migration to Samsung’s platform.
