Jeff Metcalf, father of slain Texas teenager Austin Metcalf, has shared an emotional message remembering him on Easter Sunday, nearly three weeks after the fatal stabbing of the 17-year-old.
According to the New York Post, Jeff Metcalf shared the emotional song “Beat You There” by country singer Will Dempsey. The song has lyrics which say, “I don’t know why God always takes the good ones first/And man, I’ve tried to be strong and carry on, but damn, this hurts."

Along with a link to the song, he wrote, "I love you Austin. Happy Easter."
The lyrics also say, "So don’t waste in on sorrow/And just hold on to those moments. And the memories we shared/We’re both headed for the same place anyway. I just beat you there.”
Killing of Austin Metcalf
Austin was allegedly fatally stabbed by a fellow teenager during a confrontation at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, on April 2. The suspect was identified as Karmelo Anthony, also 17.
Anthony faces a first-degree murder murder charge, but was released after his family posted his $250,000 bond. He is under house arrest.
The teen and his family insist he was only protecting himself.
Recently, Jeff Metcalf gate-crashed a press conference held by the Anthony family after Karmelo's release from jail. However, he was escorted out of the place.
Later, he told the Post, "I had hoped to pray alongside my son's killer and his family. However, I was disrespected and got thrown out. They should have pulled me up and said, ‘We are so sorry. Our condolences.’ The only thing I would have said was, ‘Okay, can we pray together and show the world we’re united'."
