Calangute: The food and drugs administration (FDA) destroyed Rs 4 lakh worth of expired food products at Pilerne Industrial Estate.
The expired items were found with a cashew manufacturer, GaiCashew LLP. The FDA destroyed masalas, squash, flavours, seasonings, and ready-to-drink mixes and issued the manufacturer an improvement notice.
The FDA also directed Ms Shree Ganesh Canteen, operated by Navnat Wadkar, to shut down due to unhygienic conditions and improper food storage, citing public health concerns.
It also ordered two Parra meat vendors to close down for slaughtering animals in unhygienic conditions and without following the stipulated norms.
The FDA team, led by director Shweta Dessai, included designated officer Richard Noronha, senior food safety Officer Rajaram Patil, and food safety officers Amit Mandrekar, Lenin De Sa, and Darlan Diukar.
