RAIPUR: Police have detained a 13-year-old boy for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in Raipur Monday. The toddler is in intensive care as her health has been worsening. She is critical and is unable to speak.
The two kids were neighbours and frequent visitors to each other's homes, police said. The horror came barely a week after a six-year-old was raped, tortured and murdered in Durg, allegedly by her uncle.
Cops said the boy saw the girl alone outside her home as her parents were taking an afternoon nap and asked her to come along. Since the two kids knew each other, she went with him to an isolated place where he raped her, police said.
The toddler's parents woke up to find her missing and went looking for her. They saw her on the road, crying, her clothes smeared in blood. Some locals had seen the boy with the girl and caught him.
Police lodged an FIR under Pocso and JJ acts and detained the juvenile. The JJ Board sent him to a rehab home.
