“Cracker of the day”: Aaron Rodgers slammed for mocking kid at golf event as Antonio Brown fires off racially charged insult

Send Push
Aaron Rodgers is back in the headlines—and this time, it has nothing to do with touchdowns or torn Achilles tendons. The veteran quarterback, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers , found himself at the center of controversy over the weekend during the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. A seemingly lighthearted moment with a young fan turned sour, prompting sharp criticism—and even a racially charged jab from former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Aaron Rodgers brushes off young fan after errant shot
As Aaron Rodgers walked between holes at the celebrity golf event , a young boy in the crowd yelled out, “You almost hit me, Aaron Rodgers,” referring to a stray golf shot that reportedly came near him. Rodgers, without stopping or offering any gesture of concern, replied dryly: “Almost doesn’t count.”

While the moment may have been brushed off as sarcasm by some, many saw it as another example of Rodgers’ growing reputation for being aloof or dismissive. No video evidence confirms how close the ball actually came to hitting the boy, but the quarterback’s tone sparked debate across social media.

Antonio Brown weighs in with a provocative message
In true Antonio Brown fashion, the controversial former NFL star didn’t hold back. He reposted the video of the exchange and captioned it with just four words: “Cracker of the day.”

The post quickly went viral, with some users condemning the racial undertone while others defended it as a commentary on privilege and celebrity detachment.

Brown’s remark adds yet another layer of controversy to a situation already brimming with uncomfortable optics—especially at a family-oriented event meant to highlight athlete-fan camaraderie.

Aaron Rodgers also declines autograph, calls fan an “autograph hound”
Rodgers didn’t stop at one awkward interaction. A day earlier, he reportedly refused to sign memorabilia for a fan who claimed to have seen him play back in 2005. When the fan failed to answer a trivia question about that game, Rodgers walked away, dismissing him as an “autograph hound.”

Despite tying for 15th place and putting up a respectable Stableford score of 44, Rodgers’ on-course performance was largely overshadowed by the backlash. His lighthearted quote, “I just like the newness of it all,” in reference to joining the Steelers, was a rare positive takeaway.

But with ESPN’s latest quarterback rankings leaving Rodgers outside the top 10, his public perception continues to face challenges—and now, even celebrity golf events aren’t safe from scrutiny.
