Adding to the pre-Naboborsho excitement, Calcutta Times recently engaged with Bibriti Chatterjee in a delightful culinary activity: a special pulao tasting session. “When I got to know that I was going to be part of the taste test, I was super excited. Pulao is one of my favourite Bengali rice dishes,” said Bibriti. She enthusiastically sampled and attempted to identify five fragrant varieties of Bengal’s much-loved rice dish, showcasing the rich and diverse flavours. Taste test: The Naboborsho special pulao edit
With a taste test at hand, Bibriti couldn’t wait to dig into the fragrant plates of pulao. On the menu was Basanti pulao, Peas pulao, Zarda pulao, Gobindobhog er murgir norom pulao and Prawn pulao. As the actress tasted each one excitedly and made her guesses – on the scoreboard she got three variants correct and two incorrect.



‘Kosha mangsho & pulao are Poila Boishakh staples’
While many prefer to hop from one café to the other, Bibriti prefers staying at home and ushering in the year with friends and family. “New year is all about family, friends and people I love. I have a very small close group of friends. It has been a ritual now that I spend it with Diti, who is also my family. Every year we order-in food but this year the plan is that she will cook Basanti Pulao & I am going to cook mutton. I’ve watched many YouTube videos and researched many recipes. While I’m not a pro at it, I hope my friends will like it,” said Bibriti with a smile.


As a child, Poila Boishakh always meant new clothes. Now it means decking up in saris and jomiye adda with friends. This new year is all about work for me as I have three releases this year
