Nagpur: Condemning the demolition of a decades-old Jain temple in Vile Parle, Mumbai, by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Niryapak Muni Shri 108 Veer Sagar Ji Maharaj described the act as not just a structural loss, but a deep spiritual wound inflicted on the Jain community. Muni Shri Veer Sagar Ji, who is a revered Guru in Jainism, is presently in the city.

"The temple wasn't just a structure — it was a place where devotion, prayers, and spiritual energy thrived for years. And yet, it was brought down without remorse," he said. "It is heartbreaking to see the community largely remaining silent while such a sacred space was razed," he said.

Referring to reports that a non-vegetarian restaurant & bar may be established at the same site, Muni Shri Veer Sagar Ji asked, "Is this what we've come to? Replacing places of worship with commercial hubs? Is business now more important than faith?"

He described the demolition as not only an insult to religion but also to spiritual lineage & traditions of centuries. "This is not just an attack on a building. It is an attack on our beliefs, our Gurus, and everything we hold sacred. Silence in the face of such injustice is the biggest betrayal of all," he said.

Calling for unity and urgent action, he said, "We are the followers of Lord Mahavir, who stood fearlessly to protect truth and righteousness. We must remember our roots and come together, now more than ever."

Muni Shri Veer Sagar Ji clarified that while Jain monks are bound by the principles of non-violence and detachment, the responsibility to protect the faith lies with the followers, those working in various fields across the country.

"There is no doubt in my mind that the temple must be rebuilt. And it will be. But beyond that, we must ensure this never happens again. Jains in every walk of life — whether in administration, law, politics, or public service — must come forward and safeguard our spiritual heritage," he said. He concluded with a strong message: "This is not the time to remain passive. This is the time to rise, united in strength & purpose. If we delay now, we may lose much more than a temple, we may lose very spirit of our faith."
