Varanasi in finals of under-20 football championship

Kanpur: Varanasi drubbed Saharanpur by 4-0 and sailed into the final of UP under-20 inter divisional state men football championship being played here at Pt Deen Dayal Sanatan Dharam school ground on Saturday. The first semi final was one sided and Varanasi players dominated through out 70 minutes. They scored two goals in each half. The scorers were Ashish, Asif, Abhishek and Karunesh.

Goraakhpur in another match outplayed Lucknow by 1-0. Both the teams started the match in attacking mode but failed to score as first half ended goalless. In the second half Amritansh got an opportunity and he cashed that by scoring goal. Thereafter Gorakhpur team strengthened its defense and did not allow rivals to make a goal.

Kanpur in the third match of the day beat Ayodhya by 2-0. Both the teams failed to score in stipulated time. But in extra time Shivam Pandey and Vihan Khanna netted one goal each for Kanpur. With this win Kanpur too reach in semi final of the tournament.
