Master trainer Willie Mullins found a repeat of last weekend's Aintree success as he watched a sensational one-two at the Scottish Grand National on Saturday. Captain Cody won the Ayr showdown with a terrific ride under Harry Cobden, who timed his late dash to the line to absolute perfection.
The well-fancied duo of Sail Away and Surrey Quest fell at the first hurdle, while last year's winner Macdermott was pulled up midway through the race. And as favourite Olympic Man faded under -winning jockey Patrick Mullins, the door was left ajar for Captain Cody to swoop in ahead of another Mullins horse, Klarc Kent, in second, and Our Power in third. Only eight horses finished the race, with nine others pulled up, three fallers, two brought down and one carried out of the race.
