Netflix has released a new movie sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, and people have vowed to watch it for one reason.
The streaming service has today (Friday 7) added Frankenstein to its platform after teasing audiences with two trailers ahead of its release to the public.
Starring well-known Hollywood names Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, the movie tells Mary Shelley's classic tale of a brilliant scientist and the creature his monstrous ambition brings to life.
But its director Guillermo del Toro who has sold it to subscribers, with one TikTok user saying: "Every movie by Guillermo del Toro is the best."
Another user added: "It's del Toro, 100% the creatures are gonna look awesome." While a third chimed in: "I will definitely watch this on Netflix."
One more user said: "I can't wait soon watch." While a final user added: "That's freaking awesome!"
Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro directed Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone, The Shape of Water, Cronos, and Hellboy, among other movies.
Reviewing the movie on IMDb, one viewer said: "Finally, after a bunch of okay, mediocre and awful adaptations tackling Mary Shelley's gothic science fiction horror epic, Guillermo del Toro gets to have his vision fully realised in what's easily one of the most faithful adaptations ever made while still being his own film.
"The visuals are phenomenal, the acting is outstanding all around (although Isaac and Elordi are the standouts), Guillermo's writing and direction are steadfast and intimately visceral, the music is haunting, and the cinematography is some of the best of the year.
"I will be seeing this again in theaters, but I hope Netflix sits down and let's this epic go to IMAX. That would be one hell of an experience."
Another added: "A Gothic opera soaked in sadness and snow. Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is the adaptation of his dreams - fierce, fragile, tragic.
"Jacob Elordi gives the performance of his career, portraying the Creature as a being of grace and anguish.
"Oscar Isaac's Victor is as tortured as he is brilliant. The film is gorgeous in every way: the production design, the costuming, the blood-red skies and green shadows. Alexandre Desplat's score lingers in your bones. But what sets this apart is the soul.
"Few monster movies ever ask: what happens when the monster wants to die? Fewer still answer so devastatingly."
A final viewer said: "Finally someone came very close to capturing the original story. Del Toro has done an excellent job.
"Perhaps not for everyone, but I was enthralled. I wish it was playing in main theaters but I imagine they are worried the general superhero and monster movie crowd won't get it. Personally, this was very worth my time."
