Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty has reportedly banned his own mother from his upcoming wedding in the wake of a bitter family feud. Peaty is due to marry Holly Ramsay, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, at a star-studded ceremony next month. She held a hen party in Oxfordshire over the weekend, but events were overshadowed by Peaty's bust-up.
Relations between the Team GB legend and his mother Caroline have soured to the point she has been blacklisted from the wedding, according to The Sun. His sister Bethany, who attended Holly's bash, is said to be the only member of his family with an invite. The cause of the feud is not publicly known.
A source close to the family is quoted as saying: "Adam's relationship with Caroline and his dad Mark are at an all-time low. It's heartbreaking.
"It's at a point now where Caroline has been told she should not come to the wedding. There is a feud rumbling on and it's been absolutely devastating for everyone involved."
Another source added: "There are wider problems in the Peaty family, with horrible threats of violence against both Holly and Adam from one individual. It's gone too far and with real concern for the couple's safety the police are now involved."
Over the weekend, Peaty's mother Caroline posted on Instagram: "Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can't explain how broken your heart is."
Meanwhile, her sister Louise waded into the drama to brand Holly 'divisive and hurtful' for choosing not to invite Caroline to her hen party.
An extraordinary social media post directed at Holly read: "I'm so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.
"A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night.
"You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum's assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.
"I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever."
