Top 10 Meat Consuming Countries in World: The tendency to eat meat around the world depends on cultural, economic and environmental factors. According to the latest report of Statista Research Department, Lithuania, Japan and Argentina are at the top in terms of meat consumption per capita.
According to the report, Lithuania has the highest number of people who consume meat regularly, at 96%. The food there mainly includes pork, beef and chicken. It is followed by Japan, where 95% of the people are non-vegetarians, although traditionally fish and seafood have been more popular there. Beef and pork have become quite popular there in recent years.
Top 10 Meat Consuming Countries in WorldArgentina is in third place, with 94% of the population eating meat. Known for its steak culture, beef is a staple in Argentina's diet and is supported by a robust animal husbandry system.
Top 10 Meat Consuming Countries in WorldMeat is also consumed by 94% of the population in Greece, Hungary and Norway, where lamb, beef and pork dominate the diet. Meat is also consumed by Romania and Colombia, with 94% and 93% respectively including pork, beef and chicken in their diets.
Portugal and Czechia are also among the top 10 countries, where 93% of people consume meat. Beef, pork and chicken are commonly eaten in these countries.
On the contrary, India is among the countries with the lowest meat consumption in the world. A large population here avoids meat for cultural and religious reasons. While countries like Lithuania and Japan are ahead in meat consumption, India is at the bottom of this global list.
