Tej Pratap Yadav Attacks Brother Tejashwi, Says True People's Leaders Were Karpoori, Lohia, Ambedkar, and Gandhi

As Bihar gears up for the Assembly elections, a new political storm has erupted over the title of “people’s leader.” The controversy began after posters in Patna described RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as a “jananayak” or “people’s leader.” The move drew criticism not only from opposition parties like the BJP but also from within the RJD itself. Adding fuel to the fire, Tejashwi’s elder brother and Janshakti Janata Dal chief, Tej Pratap Yadav, has publicly questioned the title, taking a veiled dig at his younger sibling.

Tej Pratap said that those calling themselves “people’s leaders” should refrain from doing so. “Tejashwi Yadav is living under the shadow of Lalu Prasad Yadav and calling himself a people’s leader. True leaders are those who connect directly with the people and work among them. Leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Karpoori Thakur, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Mahatma Gandhi were the real people’s leaders,” he said.

He further urged his brother to step out from under Lalu Yadav’s shadow and work independently. “Lalu ji was indeed a people’s leader, but Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi are still under his protection. I don’t have that protection—I have the guidance of Bihar’s poor and youth. I will work on my own and show results,” Tej Pratap added.

His remarks underline the ongoing rift within the Yadav family, which seems to resurface every election season. This is not the first time Tej Pratap has targeted Tejashwi over leadership issues, but his latest comments have once again brought the family’s internal feud into the public spotlight.
