Teen Girl Betrays Boyfriend, Sells Him to Scammer Gang in Myanmar for ₹11 Lakh
Love stories are often filled with trust, emotions, and promises of loyalty. But sometimes, shocking incidents remind us that betrayal can come from the closest relationships. A disturbing case from China has recently made international headlines, where a 17-year-old girl allegedly sold her 19-year-old boyfriend to an online scam gang in Myanmar for just 110,000 yuan (around ₹11 lakh).
A Love Story That Turned Into a TrapAccording to reports published in the Daily Star, the incident took place in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province of China. The young couple reportedly fell in love, but what seemed like a normal teenage romance took a dark and unexpected turn. Instead of valuing their relationship, the girl allegedly plotted to sell her boyfriend for money.
Authorities and local media suggest that the case strongly resembles a “honey trap”. The girl lured the 19-year-old by telling him about her family’s business opportunities. Convinced by her words, the boy followed her, only to be handed over to a notorious cybercrime syndicate operating from Myanmar.
Torture at the Hands of ScammersOnce in Myanmar, the boy faced horrific conditions. Reports state that he was tortured, starved, and forced into cyber fraud operations. The gang allegedly made him work up to 20 hours a day, compelling him to cheat online victims on their behalf.
The brutal treatment left him with severe physical and mental scars. His family revealed that his weight dropped drastically, and his hearing ability was almost destroyed due to repeated torture.
The Family’s Desperate StruggleWhen the boy’s family discovered what had happened, they reached out for help. Desperate to save their son, they contacted the scammers directly. According to the boy’s sister, the gang demanded a huge ransom in exchange for his release.
Ultimately, the family paid 350,000 yuan (over ₹42 lakh) to secure his return. Only after the ransom was handed over was the boy allowed to return home to China.
The sister shared the painful details with the media, saying her brother was kept in dark rooms and beaten with iron rods on his ears and hips. She added that the torture was so severe that her brother’s health and confidence were completely shattered.
The Girlfriend’s ArrestWhat made the story even more shocking was the involvement of the boy’s own girlfriend. Reports confirm that just days after the boy was rescued, police arrested the 17-year-old girl for her role in the crime. Her betrayal not only destroyed the young man’s trust but also left an unforgettable scar on his life.
A Wider Problem in the RegionThis case has drawn attention to the growing problem of cybercrime syndicates in Southeast Asia. Myanmar, in particular, has become a hub for criminal gangs who traffic people and force them into fraudulent online operations. Many victims are lured through fake job offers or deceptive relationships and then exploited in inhumane conditions.
Love, Betrayal, and a Lesson for AllThe heartbreaking story highlights how vulnerable young people can become when manipulated by greed and deceit. What began as a teenage love affair ended in betrayal, torture, and ransom. For many, this case is a reminder to be cautious, especially in a digital age where scams and exploitation are on the rise.
As authorities continue to investigate, the rescued boy is now recovering with his family, but the scars of betrayal and abuse will take much longer to heal.
