Yuvraj Singh, once the undisputed Sixer King of world cricket, now has a worthy successor in his protégé Abhishek Sharma. The young left-handed opener, mentored and trained by Yuvraj, has already made his mark by becoming the batsman with the most sixes in the first 18 innings of a T20 International career.
Record-breaking start
Abhishek has smashed 46 sixes in his first 18 T20I innings, placing him jointly at the top with West Indies power-hitter Evin Lewis. This incredible feat highlights his explosive batting style and ability to dominate bowlers right from the start of his international journey.
Interestingly, his mentor Yuvraj Singh also finds a place on this elite list. Yuvraj struck 38 sixes in his first 18 T20I innings, which puts him at third spot. Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai holds the second position with 45 sixes.
Top six-hitters after 18 T20I innings:
Abhishek Sharma – 46 sixes
Evin Lewis – 46 sixes
Hazratullah Zazai – 45 sixes
Yuvraj Singh – 38 sixes
Rahmanullah Gurbaz – 35 sixes
Chris Gayle & KL Rahul – 34 sixes each
Guru–Shishya parallel
Just as Yuvraj terrorized bowlers with his fearless stroke play—famously hitting six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad in 2007—Abhishek is fast building his own reputation as a six-hitting machine. Cricket fans now see him as the true heir to Yuvraj’s legacy of clean, powerful hitting.
