Get your fly swatters at the ready – a swarm is heading for the Fortnite island following the next update, bringing with it a heap of Tokusatsu action.

Fortnite has thoroughly enjoyed its superhero escapade, but it seems the time has come for a fresh twist, as if a new Deadmau5 skin and Fantastic Four cosmetic collection weren't already enough for players. There's a lot more in store for the game in Chapter 6 Season 4, including confirmed Power Rangers and Halo crossovers set to land as part of the game's forthcoming Battle Pass.

The invasion of alien bugs is imminent, and now that Epic Games has started releasing teaser trailers and hints, it's not only clear that the bug invasion rumours are true, but also that the Dino Megazord is about to make a dramatic entrance. It's all well and good previewing the content we can anticipate, but it actually needs to arrive first, and the next Fortnite update is hurtling towards us, packed with plenty of Tokusatsu action.

When is the next Fortnite update?

The forthcoming Fortnite update, known as Chapter 6 Season 4 and update 37.00, is scheduled for release on Thursday, August 7 at approximately 3.30am PDT / 6.30am EDT / 11.30am BST. We initially examined this when we looked into the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 end date, with the final time being determined by the season end date listed on the game's Battle Pass page and an estimated five hours of additional downtime.

What can players expect in the next Fortnite update?

The upcoming Fortnite update will usher in a brand new season, and so far, we've seen numerous teasers from both the game itself and its dedicated leakers. Here's what you need to know about the next Fortnite update:

  • A huge Power Rangers takeover, featuring Tommy Oliver and the Dino Megazord in the Battle Pass, and a major Item Shop bundle featuring the other rangers ( and )
  • The chance to pilot the Megazord with a new Mythic ( )
  • A major island takeover of alien bugs, taking over POIs ( )
