Manchester United remain convinced that Ruben Amorim is the manager to take them forward, and they've taken inspiration from Adoni Iraola's early Bournemouth struggles. The Spaniard endured a difficult start, but now has the Cherries flying high in the Premier League.
Amorim is closing in on his one-year anniversary at Old Trafford, but he has struggled to have a meaningful impact. He's largely taken the team backwards and presided over their lowest ever Premier League finish last season when they ended in 15th.
This term, despite more than £200million being spent in the summer, he's endured more setbacks. The Carabao Cup loss at Grimsby Town was a new low and United were then outclassed in the Manchester derby - beaten 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Despite that, the Old Trafford hierarchy believe Amorim is still the right man - and feel that his improvements are backed up by the stats and metrics. A positive change from last term is that United are creating far more chances with the highest xG in the Premier League.
The powers that be in Manchester have noted how Iraola endured a horror start at Bournemouth - failing to win any of his first nine games with six of those defeats. Yet their performances, according to the stats, were positive and the Cherries have benefitted from their patience, reports The Telegraph.
Once Iraola got his first win, it in turn set the team on a run of seven wins in nine matches - one of those being a memorable 3-0 victory at Old Trafford against Erik ten Hag. Bournemouth repeated that result last term, only this time it was Amorim making the decisions in the dugout. They finished ninth last season and currently sit fourth.
The Portuguese coach's record makes for grim reading; he has won just 17 of his 47 games in charge. In the Premier League, since taking charge, United would be placed bottom of all the 17 teams that have been in the league since his arrival.

Criticism has come due to the fact the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss has refused to alter his philosophy or show any pragmatism. He's rigidly stuck to his 3-4-3 formation, which has not bought the desired results, but Amorim has frequently claimed the club will have to sack him if they want to play another way.
He said: "It's not a record that you should have in Manchester United. There are a lot of things that you have no idea what happened during these months, but I accept that. But I'm not going to change. When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man.
"So, we'll talk about that every game, every game that we lose. 'I don't believe in that, in the system', or whatever. So, I play my way and I'm going to play my way until I want to change.”
