BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay kicked off Tuesday's programme with some "devastating" news. He said, "Good morning, welcome to Breakfast with Sally Nugent and Jon Kay."
Sally Nugent continued, "Our headlines for you today. Tens of thousands of foreign students are warned they will be deported if they ever overstay their visas, but opposition parties want the government to go further."
Jon continued, "After the devastating earthquake that left 800 people dead in Afghanistan, the UK provides £1million in emergency funding."

Later during the show, Sally and Jon chatted with Jeremy Smith from the British Red Cross, who offered additional insight into the devastation in Afghanistan.
He told Jon, "People are scared, there have been significant aftershocks," reports the Express.

"Access remains our biggest barrier," he explained. "We've had teams who have been unable to access areas by car.
"They have been forced to travel on foot, and most of the search and rescue work still continues with the basic tools until we can get more earth-moving equipment in.
"We have also been scaling up our health response. We have had five health teams move into the area. But we know that this is just a fraction of what is needed."
He added, "People are refusing to go back to their homes, very understandably. The situation remains very dire and very critical."
Discussing how the tragic event unfolded, Jeremy said, "These houses basically collapsed while people were sleeping. It was midnight local time.
"Our colleagues are seeing a lot of destruction; they are seeing a lot of challenges getting into the more remote areas."
He further mentioned that they had experienced torrential storms just the week before the earthquake struck.
BBC Breakfast is broadcast daily at 6am on BBC One.
