Kids' Cholesterol Report: Earlier, some diseases were only prevalent in adults, but due to constantly changing diets and lifestyles, even young children are vulnerable to them. Let us tell you how and why.

Children with high triglycerides in India: A new report on the health of children in India has revealed shocking statistics. According to the report, titled "Children in India, 2025," one in three children between the ages of 5 and 9 in the country suffers from high triglycerides. This problem can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke in children from an early age.
Children are most affected in Bengal.
According to the report, the highest number of cases in this age group was found in West Bengal, where 67 percent of children were found to have high triglycerides. This was followed by Sikkim (64.6 percent), Assam (57 percent), Nagaland (55.5 percent), and Manipur (54.7 percent). Kerala (16.6 percent) had the lowest proportion. Compared to the national average, 34 percent of children are affected by high triglycerides, meaning one in three children is facing this problem.
The situation is slightly better among teenagers.
The prevalence of high triglycerides was relatively low among children aged 10 to 19 years. In this group, 16 percent had high triglycerides and less than 4 percent had high LDL. However, Bengal (42.5 percent), Sikkim (39.4 percent), and Manipur (38 percent) were the most affected even in this age group. Maharashtra (6.4 percent) had the lowest prevalence of this problem.
Highest hypertension among children in Delhi
The report also revealed that Delhi has the highest number of cases of hypertension among children. Experts believe that changing lifestyles, increased consumption of processed foods, and lack of physical activity are the main reasons behind this. According to doctors, high triglycerides and high LDL cholesterol in children gradually lead to the accumulation of fatty deposits in the arteries, a condition called atherosclerosis. Over time, this narrows and hardens the arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke. If these problems are not identified early and dietary changes, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle are not adopted, they can lead to serious health problems in the future.
Warning for parents
Experts say that regular health screenings, attention to eating habits, and encouraging outdoor activities are crucial. Avoiding junk food and sugary drinks and emphasizing a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber can improve children's health.
