In a tragic turn of events, actor Mukul Dev passed away on May 23, and his sudden demise has left the entire industry shocked. He was cremated in Delhi in the presence of his friends and family members. He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev.
"Our brother Rahul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night...He's survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev (sic)," his brother, actor Rahul Dev said in an official statement.
Sia is the daughter of Mukul and his former wife, Shilpa Dev.
Who is Shilpa Dev?
Mukul had been quite private about his life behind the cameras. While not much is known about his personal life, reports stated that Mukul and Shilpa separated in 2004, and in 2005, they got legally divorced.
According to a report in India Forums, Shilpa had left Mukul's house, along with their then 2-year-old daughter Sia, and had flown to Delhi, only to never return again.
While Mukul never commented on his broken marriage, reports stated that he had "changed" after the divorce, and began laying low and keeping to himself.
In 2022, Mukul had wished his daughter on Instagram on the occasion of her 20th birthday.
Mukul Dev's death
Mukul was reportedly admitted to a hospital for the past few days as he was not keeping well, before eventually succumbing on the night of May 23, Friday. The exact cause of his death is not known yet.
His close friend, Vindu Dara Singh, revealed that the actor would "drink a lot" and would also consume gutka. Reports also stated that he was battling depression due to loneliness.
Several celebs including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, Sonu Sood, and others mourned Mukul's demise.
