A young woman from Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad died by suicide after recording a video explaining the reason behind her extreme step and blaming her husband and his family for harassment. According to reports, the woman had been married for just four months. Her husband had defied his family to marry her in a love marriage.
The case emerged from Sundarnagar Peepalsana village in Bhojpur, where a girl named Amreen had married a young man named Junaid. Junaid’s family was not in favour of their marriage, but he had defied them to marry Amreen. Just four months later, Amreen hanged herself. During this time, she also recorded a video of her suicide.

In the video, the woman can be heard saying that she had suffered a miscarriage. Since then, her in-laws—particularly her sister-in-law and father-in-law—had been harassing her. Sometimes she was not given food, and other times the electricity in her room was cut off. The woman said, "I have been very troubled. Ever since my miscarriage, they keep cutting the electricity or making remarks about my food."
In the video, Amreen further held her sister-in-law and father-in-law responsible for her death, saying, "If anyone is responsible for my death, it is my sister-in-law Khatija and my father-in-law Shahid—and to some extent, my husband is also at fault. They are all responsible for my death. They don’t understand me; they blame me for everything. My father-in-law and sister-in-law keep poisoning my husband’s mind against me."
Amreen said in the video, "I have endured a lot, but I can’t take it anymore. Everyone tells me to die. Even my husband says, ‘Why don’t you just die?’ My husband is in Bangalore, and my father-in-law is at home. I don’t know what will happen to me after death, but perhaps it won’t be as bad as what’s happening now." After saying this in the video, the woman hanged herself with her dupatta.
Amreen’s father revealed that before her death, she had made a video call to him, crying and saying, "Abba, my in-laws are killing me. Save me." The father said that upon seeing his daughter’s condition, he immediately rushed to her in-laws' house with some people, only to find Amreen’s body already lying on a cot.
The police stated that no complaint had been filed in the matter so far. However, Amreen’s father claims that she did not commit suicide but was driven to it due to extreme harassment by her in-laws. "She was murdered," he said.
