Mumbai: The Metropolitan Magistrate court has on Tuesday granted bail to Nitin Hindurao Deshmukh, an associate of NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad, and Sarjerao Baban Takle, the maternal uncle of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar, booked in connection with the brawl that took place in the premises of Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan.
Accused in Custody Since July 18; No Concrete Motive Established, Says Court
The two were arrested on July 18. On Monday they were remanded to judicial custody, after which their lawyers sought bail for them. The plea was opposed by the prosecution claiming that if released on bail they may tamper the investigation. Besides, it was contended that the investigation is still not complete.
Court Slams Police for Failure to Ascertain Key Details Despite Custody
The Metropolitan Magistrate KS Zanwar, while granting them bail said that, "it reveals that accused is in police custody since July 18 to July 21. Moreover, nothing has been find out during investigation regarding motive or other accompanied, investigating agency failed to find out on whose behest they are performing this act inspite of getting ample police custody."

"After perusing entire record, it reveals that now investigation is of technical nature like collection of CCTV footage from the crime scenes. Inspite of physical presence investigating agency fails to find out above mentioned aspects from accused," the court said releasing the two on bail and added that Keeping them behind bar for further period would be no use specially when they are ready to obey conditional bail and ready to abide conditions imposed.
