Ghaziabad: Harshvardhan Jain, the man behind the fake “West Arctic Embassy” in Ghaziabad, lived a life of luxury fuelled by deception. Despite belonging to a well-off industrialist family, he set up an elaborate fake diplomatic identity complete with foreign suits, luxury vehicles, and photoshopped pictures with top officials to run a shell company network and alleged hawala racket.

Educated in Paris and London, Jain reportedly traveled frequently to Dubai, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Europe. Four luxury vehicles, including a Mercedes and Sonatas, were found outside his residence, alongside ₹44 lakh in Indian and foreign currency and a dozen high-end foreign watches worth around ₹5 crore.

Interrogated for over two hours by UP ATS, Jain admitted to deep ties within the bureaucracy. He claimed his reputation gave him VIP style access to ministries in Delhi. His fake embassy operated from a lavish villa just 100 metres from his family’s home ironically, a home he was reportedly barred from due to his shady dealings.

Investigators recovered two fake press cards, two fake PAN cards, 12 diplomatic passports of fictitious micro-nations, and 18 fake diplomatic number plates. The accused is now in custody, while agencies investigate links to hawala networks, shell firms, and potential political shielding.
