Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): Thieves targeted Maa Sheetla Dham temple under Mundi police station area and made way with money from the donation box on Wednesday night.

The theft was discovered early Thursday morning when the temple priest arrived for offering morning worship at 6:30 am and found the box open. The priest alerted devotees and reported the incident to Beed police and urged them to apprehend culprits.

The incident is not the first in the town where thieves have targeted religious places. Earlier, thieves broke into Shri Ram Mandir Gomti Ashram, stole money and discarded the donation box behind the temple. Even then, devotees protested and demanded action from local authorities.

Despite efforts from local authorities and police, accused still remain at large. Similarly, thieves stole money from the donation box of an ancient Hanuman temple in Barkua Mohalla and discarded the box in a field.

Additionally, thieves also stole tin roofing, installed at a height of 30 feet, from the government garbage house near Beed Railway Yard. Thieves made away with cable supplying electricity in the field of farmer Manish Yadav on Wednesday night.

Beed police outpost in-charge Radheshyam Malviya said that investigation is underway to identify suspects.
