If breast pain:
- persists
- is felt in only one breast
- a lump or any unusual hardness is experienced
- or there is abnormal discharge from the nipple
Then it may be a sign of some other health problem. In such a situation, a doctor should be contacted immediately.

Breast pain during periods is a common experience for many women and it is usually caused by hormonal fluctuations.
