I don’t know how my days are going to be without you now. But I just want to thank you—for being there for me through every high and low, for being my constant, my comfort, my companion. You were my little baby, and you’ll always be. I’ll miss you every single minute—from eating food together to our endless Geddis, from our peaceful late-night walks to those early morning strolls. You were my nariyal paani partner, my car ride buddy, my sleeping buddy, my saviour, my soulmate... my everything."

Losing a pet dog is a heartbreak like no other. Over time, pet dogs become a part of our family and our daily lives — their wagging tails at the door, their comforting presence during lonely nights, their unconditional love through every season. When they leave us, it feels like a piece of our heart has been ripped away. The house seems quieter, the routines emptier. It's not "just a dog" — it's a family member, a loyal friend, a source of endless joy and comfort that one loses.

Grieving a dog's death is a deeply personal journey. Here we list some ways to cope with a pet's death:
1. Allow yourself to grieve
Grieving a pet is natural and necessary. They are family, companions, and emotional anchors. Don’t suppress your feelings or rush yourself to "move on." Cry if you need to, talk about them, remember the good times.

2. Create a memorial
Honouring your pet’s memory can bring comfort. You could frame a favourite photo, plant a tree in their name, or make a small shrine with their collar and toys.

3. Lean on support systems
Talk to friends or family members who understand the pain of losing a pet. This will help you cope with the deep pain of losing your beloved pet.

4. Maintain a routine
Losing a pet can disrupt your entire rhythm. Try to maintain daily routines — eating, sleeping, exercising — even when it feels difficult. Stability helps ground you and prevents grief from completely overwhelming your everyday life.

5. Consider helping other animals
When you’re ready, volunteering at a local shelter or fostering can be incredibly healing. Try doing this in the loving memory of your pet.
