Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam has been rescheduled from September 8 to September 13-14, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday.

Earlier, Sarma had announced that the Prime Minister would inaugurate a Rs 4,200-crore bio-refinery at Numaligarh, set up to convert bamboo into 2G ethanol. “The Prime Minister will also take part in a meeting at Numaligarh,” he had said at a press conference held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati.

Modi is also scheduled to visit Mangaldoi in Darrang district, where he will lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects, including the Guwahati ring road, a new bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kurua and Narengi, and the Darrang Medical College.

Following these engagements, the Prime Minister will return to Guwahati to inaugurate the year-long centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika, organised by the Assam government.

“We have already started preparations to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Assam on that day,” Sarma hadsaid.
