Rodrygo drops huge future hint with new transfer statement amid Arsenal links

With the summer transfer window officially closing on Monday, Arsenal-linked Rodrygo appears to have dropped a huge hint over his future at Real Madrid.

The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, as his position in the eyes of new manager Xabi Alonso are unclear. The ex-Liverpool star handed him just 92 minutes of action across six matches in their Club World Cup campaign

This week, The Athletic reported Rodrygo instructed agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian to explore a summer move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, contradicting recent claims from his camp that he intends to stay in the Spanish capital.

His transfer situation has been marked by conflicting signals.

Since then, Real have discovered who they will face in the upcoming Champions League campaign and Rodrygo reacted to the draw on Thursday.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Brazilian shared Real's league phase games in the Champions League, followed by the caption: "In search of the 16th," with a trophy emoji.

The La Liga giants will face Manchester City at home and Liverpool at Anfield. Both clubs have been linked with the 24-year-old.

Addressing the lack of regular game time handed to Rodrygo, Alonso previously said: "Every decision about who plays, who makes the eleven, are mine, and I make my assessments with help from the coaching staff.

"We consider what we think is best for each game. Of course, I speak to a lot of players, and I've spoken to Rodrygo as well.

"The Club World Cup was something different. The squad we had, I knew it would be different to what we are building, so we've only played one game. From my perspective, the season and my time at the club starts now."

While he continues to be linked with a switch to the Emirates, the £67.5 million signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace makes such a move unlikely.
